lyrics
Distant light
This is it, here’s our destiny
You and I were never meant to be
Of the kind who fulfil their dreams
Look around at those born into it
Breathe it in and get used to it
We might find it’s not as bad as it seems
Too much time on the red line gazing out of windows
Will you come back down from those far off places where your mind goes
The fire inside is what’s killing us
All the hope they instilled in us
The big ideas they let us put in our heads
Days will drag and years will fly
Save your heart, don’t even try
Let your expectations sink like lead
Let ‘em go and trudge to the rhythm of the old humdrum
We’ll watch that clock tick ‘til the weekend comes
The distant light of Friday night, like a beacon through the mist
It burns and fades and returns again, and it’s always been like this
Either drunk or half asleep,
in a stupor I spent mine
What a shame it couldn’t last
How was yours, how’s the head today
Aren’t weekends like carnival rides
You wait so long and they go so fast
Let ‘em go and trudge to the rhythm of the old humdrum
We’ll watch that clock tick ‘til the weekend comes
The distant light of Friday night, like a beacon through the mist
It burns and fades and returns again, and it’s always been like this
One of my favorite albums ever and I listen to it all the time, every song is beautifully made and I admire the songwriting. Way Up on the Mountain wrenches my heart in the best possible way, the blending and passion of these singers is something genuinely special. feathered_fingernail
unironic beauty and sincerity is something i am deeply uncomfortable with. i switched to parliament 100s after hearing this record. proceed with caution. 7.7/10 P4ked
