Get to you
It’s a long hard road but I’m getting closer every day
I’ll stop at nothing in my way to get to you
Today I walked for 40 miles, belly empty and my feet on fire
Tore my skin on razor wire but pushed on through
Water cannon and c.s. gas, the angry shouts from strangers
Whatever else may cross my path, I will fight off all these dangers
Tryin’ to get to you, trying to get to you
All these things I do, trying to get to you
50 strangers in the night. Set adrift and terrified
I tried to keep you on my mind to keep me strong
A little boy as young as ours cowering in his mother’s arms
I asked him if he’d help me count the stars or sing a song
I still hear the screams and cries. Winds rose and the boat capsized
I couldn’t find him in the roaring waves. I swam all night with tears in my eyes.
All that I’ve been through, these horrors I’ve lived through
Horror’s I’ve lived through, trying to get to you
It’s a long hard road but it’s end is near
All that’s left of what my heart hold dear waits just beyond that border
I’m taking all that I’ve got left of the money that your brother sent
Gonna pay it to a man I met who can sneak me over
You begged me not to stay and fight. I promised you I’d follow
You got out when the time was right and I’ll be with you tomorrow
And life can start anew, life can start anew
All these things I do, trying to get to you
One of my favorite albums ever and I listen to it all the time, every song is beautifully made and I admire the songwriting. Way Up on the Mountain wrenches my heart in the best possible way, the blending and passion of these singers is something genuinely special. feathered_fingernail
unironic beauty and sincerity is something i am deeply uncomfortable with. i switched to parliament 100s after hearing this record. proceed with caution. 7.7/10 P4ked
